We are excited that you are exploring baptism at Gateway! As a church, we believe baptism is an outward illustration of an inward reality. Baptism doesn't make you a Christian, rather it is an expression of new life as a Christian.

According to the Bible, water baptism is a symbolic act where a new Christian identifies with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. Water baptism is a public profession of a person's repentance and faith in Jesus Christ and a way of giving outward testimony to an inward work of God. It symbolically identifies us as new creations in Jesus Christ. By going down in the water, we illustrate that our old self is dead to sin and buried by faith in Jesus.
