Early Childhood at Gateway Community Church
In our Early Childhood KidzTown Ministry, we teach little ones that God loves them in a safe and nurturing environment. All of our rooms are outfitted with age-appropriate toys and books to allow children to have fun and engage in discovering Jesus through music, stories, activities, and play!
Our volunteers are committed to meeting the developmental and spiritual needs of our children, so that their parents may freely participate in the worship services.
Your First Visit
Here's what to expect when visiting KidzTown Early Childhood for the first time:
First, find your way to the check in area in the main hallway. There we will meet your family, check your child into our system, and then one of our volunteers will lead your child to their age-appropriate room.
Upon checking in for the first time, we will ask for the following personal information (NOTE: We value your privacy and will not share this information with anyone):
- Parent/guardian name(s)
- Child's name
- Child's birthdate
- Phone number
- Email Address
- Any special instructions (allergies, special needs) for your children
You can also pre-register your children below.
How Check-in Works
Before Service: You can check-in your child at any available kiosk. After finding (or entering, if it's your first time) your child’s name in the database, you and your child will be given matching name tags that are exclusive to your family and your visit. Your child will need to wear the name tag portion while you hold on to the matching tag.
After Service: After the service is complete, you will return to your child’s room and show your tag in order for your child to be released back to you.
During Service: In the event that we need to contact you during the service, we will text you on your cell phone.
Gateway Community Church offers childcare during service for infants. You are also welcome to bring your infant into service with you! We also have a Family Lounge that is available for mothers and fathers with infants. This room is reserved exclusively for parents with young children to enjoy the service in a more private and quiet environment.
Meet our Director of Early Childhood Ministry
Allison Hansen, Director of early childhood ministries
Hello! My name is Miss Alison and I am the Director of Early Childhood Ministry. I have a heart for children and I especially love seeing their sweet faith in Jesus. I am a California girl by birth and was raised here in Sterling, VA. After college and a few years in Arlington, my husband, Jonathan, and I moved to Stone Ridge looking for a local church community and found Gateway. In 2016, I felt God's call to leave my career as a Chemistry teacher to step into children's ministry. These days, you can usually find me running around with my own three little ones and connecting with other young families!
